Voor de fotojournalist die er eens helemaal uit wil
The Associated Press seeks a photographer for its bureau in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This photographer works out of San Juan, the control bureau for all the Caribbean except Cuba, covering "the Continent of Islands" from Bermuda in the Atlantic to the Guyanas in South America and all the islands in between. This photographer travels extensively to help create a diverse report from a region teaming with photo ops, from hurricanes, riots in Jamaica, political protests in Haiti, to regional and international sporting events including cricket, soccer, baseball, athletics and basketball. This person creates in-depth photo features reporting on current events in the region, from the war on terrorism and the drug war to the AIDS crisis and faltering economies based on agriculture, tourism and the offshore financial industry. This person also acts as photo editor when the editor is traveling, coordinating coverage with full-time photographers in the Dominican Republic and Haiti and a couple dozen stringers across the region. The photographer also organizes coverage of photo specials and deals with queries and requests from some 100 subscribers. A qualified candidate must have recognized photo talent with the willingness to take visual risks, have good organizational skills, and must speak English and Spanish. For consideration, e-mail a cover letter, resume and links to a portfolio to sanjuan@apjobs.org.
